Grocerant
niche Ready-2-Eat and Heat-N-Eat fresh prepared food is finding favor with
consumers at Sprouts. After expanding its deli offerings including new fresh prepared food offerings
with a new salad bar with healthy salads, prepared proteins and healthy side
dishes, as well as a new mix of entrée meals and side dishes.

Farmers Market
plans to update the deli in four more stores this quarter following the
successful a test of new offerings. Doug Sanders, Sprouts’ executive chairman stated “Following the rollout of these additional
stores, we will be looking to incorporate many of these offerings into a
greater number of stores in 2016 and beyond,”
Sprouts
CEO Amin Maredia stated “Deli is a big
part of Sprouts’ competitive strategy going forward”. Since 2013 fresh food under the halo of
‘better for you’ Sprouts has steadily increased its focus on grocerant niche
Ready-2-Eat and Heat-N-Eat food including fresh-made sushi and Boar’s Head delis
sandwiches.
Maredia
added that “The deli, along with private label and specialty items, is also
part of what draws customers “for more destination type of shopping”. Fresh prepared Ready-2-Eat and Heat-N-Eat
food is top of mind for consumers today.
