When
it comes to fresh food fast Amazon understands both delivery and freshness
according to Steven Johnson Grocerant
Guru® at Tacoma, WA based Foodservice Solutions®. Johnson stated “Fresh
food quality combined with freshly prepared full-flavored food from Amazon is
something everyone just might want to consider this Thanksgiving.”
So,
Amazon is gearing up for the holiday shopping season with Thanksgiving meal
deals through Amazon
Fresh and Black Friday and Cyber Monday through its online portal, the
Seattle-based retail giant announced.
Amazon
Fresh said it is offering Thanksgiving dinner for a family of five for under
$50. That offer includes an 8- to 10-pound Butterball whole turkey, turkey
gravy, russet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, cornbread stuffing, sweet
rolls, Amazon
Fresh-brand pie and Breyers ice cream.
The
Thanksgiving dinner deal has a catch, though. Shoppers must spend over $50 to
receive a frozen Butterball turkey for 49 cents per pound. That deal doubles to
99 cents per pound for those purchasing the turkey online. Sometimes we
wonder if they are serious about fresh food retail as the team at Foodservice
Solutions® suggest its time for the Amazon Fresh trial to be over and they should
simply push for marketing share for Holiday meals and they will garner new
customer waiting to migrate.
Members
of Amazon’s premium service, Amazon Prime, will enjoy 10% off for items such as
eggs, butter, sugar, cooking oil, meats and produce, the company said in a
statement.
All
of Amazon’s physical stores will be open on Thanksgiving from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
and is offering 2-hour delivery for orders where available.
Personalized
deal notifications are available through the Alexa app up to 24 hours prior to
the sale, the company noted, enabling customers with items saved in their Wish
List, Cart and Saved for Later lists to “keep an eye on personalized deals
throughout the season by saying, ‘Alexa, what are my deals?’” We suggest
consumers as Alexa “Thanksgiving Meal Deals”.
“They
can also ask Alexa to remind them of deals once they are live, or ask Alexa to
make a purchase when a deal is available by saying, ‘Alexa, buy it for
me,’” the company said.
