Walk-in Restaurants Battle the Drive-Thru A New Outcome?

What is more important than a burger via the drive-thru window?  Consumer empowerment is more important and that comes in the form of consumer choice.  Barry Schwartz wrote in his book The Paradox of Choice “Today’s world offers us more choices but, ironically, less satisfaction”

One over-arching theme that has driven the rapid growth and success of the Ready-2-Eat and Heat-N-Eat fresh prepared food space aka the Grocerant Niche is consumers increasing demand for a food retail platform for that includes  convenient meal participationdifferentiation and individualization according to Foodservice Solutions® Grocerant Guru™.

Today most traditional (QSR’s), generate 64% or more of their business through the drive-thru.  Ever ask for a special order in the Drive-thru?  When you do customer service slips at many QSR’s and most customers are asked to “pull forward, move to the side? The line stops and the relationship slips.

That’s not the case if the fast food outlet is a convenience store.  Most C-stores do not have drive-thru’s, they do provide customization, and enhance the experience in incremental CPG food, food products or service inside the store.

The same can be said for walk-in restaurants for they offer choice, with convenient meal participationdifferentiation and individualization that allows a family to accommodate families with picky eaters, special needs, or simply want something that their kids will eat.

Winning back customers at walk-in restaurants can be done according to Warren Solochek, vice president of client services at NPD Group but "Now, you've got to make it worthwhile."  Choice makes it worth wild.
Adam Werner, co-managing director at AlixPartners, who helped to oversee his company's new study stated that "Millennials want to eat healthy and cheap at the same time," Our own Grocerant Guru™ believes that its choice that is driving consumers back into walk-in restaurants.
