The collector's edition bottle—the first-ever bottled sauce from Zaxby's—comes with a lifetime supply of Zax Sauce. Proceeds from the "Zax Sauce for Life" auction will benefit The Boys' and Girls' Clubs of America. The auction opens to the public on eBay on Sept. 12 and closes on Sept. 15 with the winner to be announced on Sept. 18.


McLeroy, Zaxby's founder and board chairman, stated, "It's the first time Zax Sauce has ever been bottled, and it's benefitting a great organization with the Boys' and Girls' Club," ... "I created the sauce back in 1990, and it became a cult favorite among college students who were our earliest brand fans. I used to make every batch from scratch myself."

Here is a little background if there is not a Zaxby’s near you, for 33 years, Zaxby's has been known for two things: Indescribably Good™ chicken and Zax Sauce. McLeroy personally made the sauce and distributed it to various locations to ensure that no one single person would know the recipe from start to finish. Now the highest bidder can get a lifetime supply of the legendary sauce in the form of gift cards redeemable at participating Zaxby's locations and a one-of-a-kind collector's-edition commemorative bottle. So, this auction of this first-ever bottle of Zax Sauce celebrates Saucetember, the month Zaxby's has designated as a salute to sauce. In September 2022, Zaxby's dropped free sauce-flavored popsicles to mark the season. This year, Zaxby's is commemorating Saucetember by treating its loyal fan base to saucy in-app offers throughout the month, in addition to the Zax Sauce for Life auction.


To place a bid for a chance to win a lifetime supply of Zax Sauce, brand enthusiasts may enter the auction through zaxsauceforlife.com on Sept. 12. Taking place on eBay, the bidding starts at $19.90 in an homage to Zaxby's founding year.

A Hit or A Miss Zaxby's Sauce-Flavored Popsicle

 


Yes, you read that right, Zaxby's, the premium quick-service restaurant, beloved for its Chicken Fingerz, wings and legendary Zax Sauce, has partnered with Alabama-based gourmet popsicle brand Frios to introduce sauce-flavored popsicles. Zaxby's 'Saucesicles' that went online for free Sept. 19, 2022 through saucesicles.com, first come first served, while supplies last. The frozen treat will feature two of the brand's boldest sauces: Zax Sauce and Tongue Torch.

Patrick Schwing, chief marketing and strategy officer at Zaxby's, stated, "Saucesicles were created for our most loyal fans that can't get enough of our signature sauces. The collaboration with Frios is built on flavor, bringing together two iconic Southern brands,".

So, the Saucesicles come in two flavors: Zax Sauce and Tongue Torch. The Zax Sauce-flavored Saucesicle features all the sweet and tangy and creamy flavors created by the secret blend of spices, black pepper and Worcestershire Sauce. The Tongue Torch Saucesicle is a mild heat tomato pop with notes of garlic, paprika, turmeric and a hint of lime.

Zaxby's has renamed the month of September 'Saucetember' to highlight the brand's proprietary portfolio of 12 dipping and tossing sauces. Zaxby's is celebrating 'Saucetember' by treating its loyal fan base to this saucy goodness on a stick.


Saucesicles come in packs of eight and are limited to one order per person. States excluded from shipping include Alaska, California, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Puerto Rico and Washington. 

For fans who might miss out on the spicy-saucy treat, Zaxby's will also offer a Buy-One-Get-One-Half-Off (BOGOHO) Boneless Wings Meal Deal with wings tossed in one of Zaxby's eight sauces, when ordering through the app on September 27.

Zaxby's Sweet Meal Deal for your Sweetheart


Success does leave clues and Zaxby’s has been picking up all the right clues of late according to Steven Johnson, Grocerant Guru® at Tacoma, WA based Foodservice Solutions®. Grocerant niche Ready-2-Eat and Heat-N-Eat fresh prepared food continues to garner new consumers and Zaxby’s is extending it brand invitation to couples on the go.
Zaxby's, best known for its chicken fingers, wings and signature sauces, recently hosted a "Drive-Thru Date Night.  That as regular readers of this blog know is interactive and participatory fresh food marketing that works. The event was targeting “stir-crazy couples in need of a night out from sheltering at home” that are tired of cooking.
Customers were treated to roses, a violinist and a caricature artist in the drive-thru line while waiting to taste Zaxby's newest menu offering, Zax Pack for Two. Joel Bulger, Zaxby's Chief Marketing Officer stated; "The world has changed a lot this year. Due to staying at home and social distancing, one activity—date night—has become nearly impossible, “... "We worked with Tombras, our creative agency of record, to come up with a one-of-a-kind idea for couples to spend time together in the safest and most romantic way possible. For Zaxby's it was the perfect opportunity to showcase a meal made for two."
So, the Zax Pack for Two has been available at participating Zaxby's locations since Memorial Day and has been selling at a rate nearly double the popular Zax Family Packs. The new bundled meal includes eight hand-breaded Chicken Fingerz, two regular crinkle fries, two slices of Texas toast and two Zax Sauce dipping cups plus two 22-ounce drinks starting at $14.99.
Zax Pack for Two builds on the momentum of Zaxby's popular Zax Family Packs. Zaxby's recently launched menu option designed to meet the needs of families sheltering at home includes 20 Chicken Fingerz or 30 boneless wings with shareable sides to feed four people starting at $24.99. The LTO has been well received, and at a time when industrywide sales were dropping, Family Packs contributed to a 22.5% increase of overall average check.
Zaxby's dining rooms will continue to reopen in waves, pursuant to federal, state and local guidance across its footprint. Zax Pack for Two and Zax Family Packs are available via drive-thru, delivery and curbside pick-up at participating restaurants while supplies last. Prices may vary by location.
