QSR’s Rollout Grocery Pantry Busting Price War in 2016

Foodservice Solutions® Grocerant Guru® predicts a fast food price war is on tap for 2016, and that the battle for share of stomach has just begun.  Pantry busters are on the way from the Quick Service Restaurant sector in January targeting grocery stores and c-stores.

Grocery stores may be touting fresh better for you food options and C-stores are offering new products but QSR’s understand that 50% of US consumers over the age of 18 are single.  The QSR industry can save them from cooking while saving them money and that equals a “halo” of better for you that consumers will pay attention too according to the team at Foodservice Solutions®.

McDonald’s has rolled out new McPick 2 value menu where consumers can pick from two of the following items for $2: a McDouble, a McChicken, small fries and mozzarella sticks.

Burger King not to be outdone has launched its 5 for $4 value menu that allows consumers to purchase five specific menu items -- a bacon cheeseburger, small fries, small drink, four-piece chicken nuggets and a chocolate chip cookie -- for four dollars.

Papa Murphy’s and Pizza Hut both will have a $5 pizza Papa Murphy’s $5 Fave’s and  Pizza Hut's $5 for a medium pizza is cheaper than Domino's, but comes with one less topping. Taco Bell will not be out done they are rolling out a $1 value menu in this month as well.  I’m sure it will include some of these items that it currently offers on the breakfast menu.

Success does leave clues and today price continues to drive frequency, customer adoption, and top line sales and bottom line profits. Visit: www.GrocerantGuru.com or Email: Steve@FoodserviceSolutions.us for information on how you can edify sales at your operation.
