Dunkin’ Donuts wants to help you kick-start your employees day with
fresh, hot Dunkin’ coffee, sandwiches, and Donuts and they will do it with food
and beverage delivery. Delivering breakfast (AM Day-Part) meals may just be the
next being thing driving growth within the restaurant industry according to our
Grocerant Guru®.
Regular readers of this blog know that both Starbucks and McDonald’s have
done extensive testing of food delivery and many of you are ordering from them
now. Burger King has delivery in more US
locations than any other company in the QSR space.
However Dunkin' Donuts under the direction of CEO Nigel Travis wants to
expand and change the playing field. He
just may be the man to do it. He was as
you remember the CEO of many years of Papa John’s so he knows a thing or two
about delivery.
Travis,
in an interview with CNBC stated "Delivery is
clearly a big opportunity," he went
on to say "The trend in this
country is convenience. I think the next few years you're going to see us get
more and more into delivery."
Restaurant
industry sales continue to inch up with the National Restaurant Association
last reporting sales of US$ 709 billion.
With“Off-premises dining”, which includes takeout and delivery, held an
18 percent market share of the fast food industry in 2013. Also in
2013, “60 percent of Americans admitted to ordering food for takeout or
delivery at least once a week, showing demand for the market,” according to the
website and those numbers continue to rise.
Currently
Dunkin’ is running what it terms a ‘private test of the delivery’ service as a
precursor to creating mobile ordering which is expected to launch in 2016.
Foodservice Solutions® Grocerant Guru™ stated “consumers are time starved,
companies are time starved allowing your brand to expand while providing a
service is complimentary too for the consumer and for companies.”
If
success does leave clues and it does, Travis and Dunkin’ have a deep pocket of
clues and are sure to become successful of delivery according to the team at
