Is McDonald's Free Egg McMuffin Day a Swipe at Wendy’s Breakfast

Egg McMuffin is the “handheld breakfast” of record according to Steven Johnson, Grocerant Guru® at Tacoma, WA base Foodservice Solutions®. Johnson stated “Cooked from scratch, the Egg McMuffin is handheld food industry standard for fresh food that continues to drive customer adoption, driving change in how, where, and when Americans eat breakfast.”
The Egg McMuffin has been around for 49 years it is cooked fresh daily and bundled with coffee and a handheld hash brown that change consumers perception of what a good breakfast was or is. Now McDonald's declared Monday, March 2, as National Egg McMuffin Day as a clear swipe at Wendy’s launch of a nationwide breakfast rollout for the third time.
To celebrate McDonalds is giving out free, freshly prepared Egg McMuffin at participating McDonald’s nationwide. Customers need only download our Mobile App to redeem this offer between 6-10:30 a.m. local time on Monday, March 2.  So, take that Wendy’s.
McDonald’s is edifying its relationship with consumers, rewarding them for using its digital app, and reminding them that quality and consistency equal value when it’s time for breakfast food.
McDonald’s doesn’t plan to roll over and capitulate its success within the AM daypart.  While the AM daypart, has become increasingly competitive. It’s clear that any newcomer will have to battle and battle hard to beat McDonald’s.
Wendy’s franchise base will not tolerate losing profits, or excessive advertising spends on a daypart that has proven elusive twice before.  All that said, get your FREE EGG McMUFFIN Monday, March 2, 2020.
