Walgreens Delivery is a Grocery Store Nightmare

There was a time that Walgreens was the largest chain restaurant in the Unites States, with fresh, fast food, service at lunch counters. Now, with over 9,000 stores in the U.S. and its territories they are offering same day 2 hours delivery on everything in the store.

According to Steven Johnson, Grocerant Guru® at Tacoma, WA based Foodservice Solutions® who stated, “Walgreens is going to be a nightmare for legacy grocery stores that have spent millions on ‘click & collect’.  Two-hour delivery of drugs, milk, eggs, bread, snacks, and grocerant niche prepared food in urban cores will simply elevate Walgreens as a meal solution destination.”

Now that Walgreens is now offering customers nationwide same-day delivery in under two hours for more than 24,000 retail products, building on its solutions for safe, convenient and contactless shopping. Consumer have a choice, for fresh food, CPG products, Beer, Wine, Milk and snacks.  Once again we we see customer migration from grocery stores to convenience that is fast, fresh, and family focused.

There are no minimum order size requirements for the two-hour-or-less delivery, and customers can select this option online at Walgreens.com or using the Walgreens app. Customers who are also myWalgreens members can earn and use Walgreens Cash rewards, as well as redeem digital promotions and savings offerings. Our Grocerant Guru® urges Walgreens to add there 800 call center number to the weekly advertising circular to garner loyal customers over 70 to migrate to Walgreens fresh fast food delivery.

Walgreens, Stefanie Kruse, VP of digital commerce, stated, “As the country gets ready to emerge from the pandemic, Walgreens continues its focus on enhancing our customer experience through integrated and simplified shopping solutions,” … “Since the launch of myWalgreens in November 2020, we are constantly innovating to provide convenient delivery options to our customers that make their lives easier.”

Regular readers of this blog know that earlier this year, Walgreens expanded its on-demand delivery solutions with Instacart to residents across Illinois. Walgreens also offers delivery through third-party partnerships with Postmates and DoorDash, and in November 2020, it launched pickup in as little as 30 minutes in-store, curbside and via drive-thru. How is your brand moving forward?

In this case, pickup and delivery app is the best choice for businesses and their customers. This situation can be more witnessed in the on demand grocery app, which helps grocery companies manage their groceries in the best way.
